Circular from the Principal: September 24, 2020

Dear Marist Parents and Guardians,

Greetings of Peace!

We would like to remind you of the following activities for the coming weeks:

I. Completion Week

A. During the last week of every quarter (Week 8) Marist School will observe Completion Week.

  • First Quarter: October 5 – 9, 2020
  • Second Quarter: December 7 – 11, 2020
  • Third Quarter: February 15 – 19, 2021

B. During Completion Week all synchronous and asynchronous classes/activities are cancelled. Only the scheduled spiritual activities (masses, recollections, retreats, etc.) will be conducted.

C. The period will be allotted mainly:

  • for the students to submit missed outputs to their respective teachers and
  • as respite for both the teachers and students from the demands of online learning in consideration of their mental health.

II. Webinar for Grade School Parents and Guardians

A. So that the parents of our Grade 1 – 6 students will gain a better understanding of the Scholastic reading program and will consequently be able to guide their respective children in using the program, a webinar entitled Understanding the Basics of Scholastic PR1ME English will be given them on the following designated schedule:

  • October 3, 2020 (Saturday)
    • Grades 1 and 2: 9 AM – 10 AM
    • Grade 3: 2 PM – 3 PM
  • October 10, 2020 (Saturday)
    • Grade 4: 9 AM – 10 AM
    • Grade 5: 2 PM – 3 PM
  • October 24, 2020 (Saturday)
    • Grade 6: 9 AM – 10 AM

B. Concerned parents will receive an email from the Learning Resource Center regarding the meeting link and other details of the webinar.

Also, we would like to request all parents and guardians to regularly remind your children/wards to protect their respective TechnoKids Google accounts by not sharing their passwords or Google Meet links with anyone, especially strangers.

Marist School would like to reiterate that it will “remain steadfast with the behavior of students and stakeholders during online engagement and communication. Any report of misuse and abuse of content, information, and technology resources will be handled accordingly” (Marist VIOLETS Manual, 2020).

Linked here is the public advisory dated September 22, 2020 from the Department of Justice re: the conduct of online classes using video conferencing services. We pray that, as mission partners in the education of your children, we instill in them the exercise of due diligence in their online dealings and activities. Together, let us make our online learning space—our Marist VIOLETS—safe and secure for our students.

For your information and guidance. Thank you very much and God bless!

Truly yours,

(Signed)
Mr. John Benjamin C. Balatbat
Principal
